The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced that it will reopen the electoral roll for one day, on October 1, to allow specific groups of people who are yet to be captured in the register to do so.

People who will participate in this new electoral roll will be;

  1. Voters who were outside the country due to COVID-19 restrictions.
  2. People who were under a 14-day mandatory quarantine during the mass voter registration.

  3. Eligible voters who were duly issued voter ID cards but whose names are missing from the register under exhibition.

This decision was taken on Thursday when the issue came up at a meeting between the Electoral Commission and officials of the various political parties ahead of the December 7, 2020, general elections.
The registration will take place at the EC district offices nationwide and will run from 7 am to 6 pm.
