Apple has a new baby. No! Actually, three new babies which were unveiled at an event in Cupertino that doubled as a grand opening of its new spaceship of a campus– the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
Naming it the “iPhone X” places it a little above the 8 and 8 Plus. This move, according to The Verge, “makes it clear it’s a special edition iPhone, and not an iPhone 10 that’s going to make people think they’re not getting the latest iPhone if they go for the iPhone 8.”
This exciting journey begun ten years ago when Steve Jobs and his people at apple decided to revolutionize the way mobile phones were made and used. iPhones were the first internet connected mobile devices and the first to have a full touch screen.
It is therefore important that to celebrate this tenth year milestone by Apple, a monumental display be showcased. One which would be worthy of the moment; and I believe that the iPhone X does just that.

The device is totally different. It looks like another generation of smartphones. iPhone may have given us a look into the future with its iPhone X.
On the front, it’s screen head to foot, save for a small trapezoidal notch taken out of the top where Apple put selfie cameras and sensors.
Like the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, it comes with a brand new design, ditching bezels and opting for a glass front and back which makes it arguably the most durable phone so far.
For the first time, Apple is is offering an OLED display and calls it the “Super Retina Display”. This move will ensure that the display improves drastically with better image display and the availability of more accurate colours among others.
The X doesn’t come with a home button. As stated earlier, the front is covered with the screen from top to down. Therefore, in order to wake your device up, you just have to swipe up on the screen and throw it away. Users can also reach Siri by simply saying “Hey Siri” or by pressing the side button.
But won’t this affect your security? How are you going to ensure that no one is granted unauthorized access to your phone?
Well, don’t worry. There is a new feature: the Face Recognition.
Iphone X Face Recognition
When you first start using an iPhone X, you’ll go through a short setup, the face version of registering your thumbprint—you’ll peer into the front-facing camera, framing your face just right, then turn your head left and right so the iPhone’s sensors can get a good look.
FaceID is enabled by a True Depth camera system, equipped with an infrared camera, flood illuminator, dot projector and more all packed into the top of your iPhone.
The FaceID helps you to make payments, unlock your phone and log into apps among others. It requires your attention to perform all these functions.
Samsung and others have tried these features in the past but have failed. Let’s see if Apple will be that game changer they have always been.
iPhones always come with the most amazing cameras. Users can now select their own lighting effect with the introduction of the new Portrait Lighting. These effects are not filters but a true reflection of the light hitting your face. This can be added or removed after the photo is taken.
Supported by Qi, Iphone X together with the other phones launched support wireless charging. This is made possible by their new glass backs.
Also, battery life is two hours better than the iPhone 7.
Pricing and availability
The iPhone X starts at $999 for the 64GB model, with a larger 256GB option.
Pre-orders begin on October 27 and regular sales begin November 3.
