The company will be listed on NASDAQ under the symbol OPRA. Its operating revenue in 2017 was $128.9 million , leading to a net income of $6.1 million.
Currently, Opera manages a web browser for desktop computers and a handful of such for mobile phones. Android users have Opera, OperaMini and OperaTouch, while for iOS, you can only find OperaMini. More recently, the company launched a standalone Opera News app.
The browser’s monthly active users across its mobile products amount to around 182 million, with the breakdown being 57.4 million monthly active users for its desktop browser and 90.2 million users for Opera News in its browsers and standalone app – while recording some overlap across those user bases.

The company’s revenue comes from three sources. It has a deal with two search engines: Yandex which is the default search engine in Russia, while the rest of the world has Google as the default search engine. The partners pay more money to remain the default search engine as the company’s user base grows.
The rest of the revenue comes from ads and licensing deals, some of these advertising partners can be seen in the browser’s speed dial with websites such as Booking.com or eBay pre-populating it by default. Also, the company gets revenue from phone manufacturers and telecom companies whose devices come pre-installed with its browsers.
Although the browser market is highly competitive with tech giants such as Google, Apple and Microsoft among those Opera has to be facing, people spend so much time in their browser that there is probably enough room for a small browser companies such as Opera to thrive.
