Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) has been training and mentoring startups and entrepreneurs from Africa from the past 10 years. With all these 10 years experience in coaching, MEST is going to organise the MEST Africa Challenge.
This year’s is the second edition of the MEST Africa Challenge. The maiden edition was held back in 2013.

The MEST Africa Challenge

MEST Africa Challenge is a pitch contest for entrepreneurs and startups from all over Africa. The Challenge aims at startup businesses that have already realised their revenue bases, thus exploring ways to expand their businesses into other regions.
The competition looks for startups in countries with a lot of tech startups like Nigeria, Ghana, Kneya, Ivory Coast and South Africa.
The MEST Africa Challenge will run in series, i.e., regional competitions, which will then advance into the main Challenge. The regional competitions will hold in locations like Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.
The winners from the regional competitions will go to the main event which will happen in June 2019 in Kenya.

The prize for this year’s MEST Africa Challenge is a $50,000 equity investment for the finalists. It also promises a host of other benefits to the startups. The finalists will also get slots in MEST incubators anywhere in Africa.
The MEST Africa Challenge attracts many a lot of prominent people including investors, entrepreneurs and other innovators as well. The panel of judges for last year’s main event included representatives from MTN, Facebook, and Meltwater, the event organisers.
