Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities who has a specialty in predicting the moves of Apple disclosed that Apple’s upcoming iPhone X refresh — could include a much cheaper handset with a price around half as much as the original.
He reckons the top tech firm will reveal a 6.1-inch version of the iPhone X that could cost as low as $550 – GHC 2,444 as compared to the original which cost $1,391 – GHC 6,181.
He acknowledged that the dramatic drop in price is that Apple will downgrade the screen quality from expensive OLED to cheaper LCD.
However, he indicated that the iPhone X refresh will still possess the all-screen look of the iPhone X,including the notch, but won’t be as dazzling as the original.
According to the analyst, the new iPhone will also come with a dual-SIM version, meaning a user can run two separate numbers on the same handset.
Alongside this cheaper iPhone X, Apple is also expected to release two other new phones: a 5.8-inch standard refresh original iPhone X and a larger 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus with an OLED screen.
We’ll all have to wait until the autumn to find out for sure as this is traditionally when Apple unveil its new devices.
