1. The kingdom of Askum, Ethiopia: People have said it is the lost kingdom of the Queen of Sheeba. Others feel it is the last resting place of the Ark of the Covenant. A philosopher included it in the list of the world’s four greatest kingdoms.
2. The Kush Kingdom: It dates back to around 8000BC. Kush was very classified, complex and agriculture was their thing. Their neighbor, Egypt conquered them but Kush retaliated and defeated Egypt, becoming the greater kingdom. For more than 1000 years, they ruled the Egyptians and boosted construction across Sudan.
3. The Nok: This culture lasted from around 1000 B.C. to A.D. 300 in what we now know as northern Nigeria. Proof of the Nok was seen during a tin-mining operation in 1943. Miners found a terra-cotta head, hinting at a rich sculptural tradition.
4. The Land of Punt: An African kingdom that were trade partners with the Egyptians. Both kingdoms exchanged goods from the 26th century B.C, when Pharaoh Khufu (the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza) ruled.
