After the death of 5 people at a Halloween party hosted at a California Airbnb rental, and a recent report describing Airbnb’s inability to prevent nation-wide scams, the company has said it will start verifying all 7 million of its listings.

Its properties will be verified for accuracy of pictures, addresses, listing details, cleanliness, safety, and simple home amenities, as per a recent email shared by Airbnb co-founder and chief executive officer, Brian Chesky.

His words, “We believe that trust on the internet begins with verifying the accuracy of the information on internet platforms, and we believe that this is an important step for our industry.”
