The Gamers Lounge campus tournament is organized in every academic year for tertiary schools in Ghana

The Chief executive officer of Gamers Lounge, David Gedzah, has disclosed that theĀ  2019/2020 edition of the Gamers Lounge campus tournament will commence in October this year.

The Gamers Lounge campus tournament which is organized by Gamers Lounge in every academic year seeks to bring out the best eSports players in Ghana’s tertiary institutions.

One of Ghana’s best eSports players, Wonderkid was involved in the previous edition and came third in the Mortal Kombat competition. Kelvin Asamoah from KNUST came first while Alex Hunter from UPSA and Jefferson Obudai from KNUST came second and third respectively in the FIFA 19 competition.

This year’s edition of the Gamers Louge campus tournament will see players competing in games such as FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11 and Call of Duty; with the University of Cape Coast, University of Ghana, University of Professional Studies, Central University, KNUST, Accra technical university, Takoradi Technical University, GIMPA, Ghana Telecom University and Zenith University among the selected schools for the tournament.

Each participating school will have the opportunity to host an in house qualifying series to select the best four players for each of the three games. The semi-finalists will then be chosen to compete for the coveted trophies for the various games.

“The tournament is to promote eSports”

Speaking in an exclusive interview with, the Chief Executive Officer of Gamers Lounge, David Gedzah, indicated that the tournament has its main purpose as promoting eSports in Ghana as well as helping the athletes to rake in some revenue.

He said, ” This tournament is basically to promote eSports in Ghana. Undoubtedly, eSports is doing well in the West and just as people go to school to study and become lawyers we are trying to help gamers develop their passion to become professionals.

“We also want to create an avenue for players to get revenue from their passion and also to get the best players to represent Ghana in international tournaments.”

Gamers Lounge will be organizing this year’s edition in collaboration with Get4Less Ghana and TCL Ghana with the actual date for the tournament yet to be announced.
