How To Have A Happy Year In 2017
We have done it. We crossed the line. It is 2017. Hip hip hurray!!!!! Happy New Year!!!
The past is behind us. We are moving forward in all enthusiasm. I dare say.
I am sitting at a hotel bar , watching the red, yellow, green, pink, blue and white balloons float about. People are hugging and congratulating themselves. It was spectacular and I loved the fireworks lighting up the black night sky.
Being a Jazzy person, I enjoyed, the music immensely especially the saxophone. My phone keeps on beeping and alerting me of all the messages I am receiving.
All the mistakes, misfortunes in 2016 are not going to happen in 2017. This is a new page. A fresh start. A happy New Year.
Is that how you feel? That is how I feel. I am on a high for sure. It’s great to be in a new day of a new year. It would be greater if we could feel this way every day of the year. There won’t be a dull or sad moment in our lives then.
But is this real anyway?
Didn’t you feel the exact same way when you entered 2016? I know I did.
2016 was not all that I expected, though. I had some rude shocks, I would rather not talk about. But the truth is that even if I tried wishing them into oblivion, they are things that happened and mark a significant stage of my life. We can’t deny it, even though we pretend we will not go through any loss or bad experiences in the coming year. We will. It’s part of life. The important thing is how you pick yourself up or as the cliché goes, make lemonade out of the lemons that are tossed to you.
So here are a few things, I am going to do this year.
I am going to set just one major goal –That’s it. I am not going to do a shopping list of new year resolutions that I am likely to forget by the second day of the year.
Just one. Curious? Want to know what that it is? I will tell you. Doing a PHD. That’s it.
So if you have done yours already, you would know the kind of preparations that must go into it. So I have a lot of stuff to think about and plan.
Now to personal management issues. I am going to write down all the positive things that happen to me during the year in a pocket-sized notebook. That way, when I am down, I can always pull it out of my pocket and have a good uplifting story to read. If you are a churchy person, you could make it a prayer book. Write down your prayers and answers. It helps a lot in calming you nerves, knowing Someone else will take charge of your problems.
I am going to quit worrying of the stuff that I have absolutely no control and concentrate on things that are in my control.
I will try a little more patience.
I will play more. In 2016, I bought a kite, kid’s sunglasses and thirty pairs of colourful shoelaces. This year I will be a little more elaborate to the chagrin of my family members.
Friends? I will fix in a little more time for them on my calendar.
So this is how I am going to have a happy new year in 2017, what about you?
You would want to look back on the threshold of 2018 and say that 2017, was one of the best years, you ever had. So plan out your year. The trick is keep it simple.
Have a wonderful and prosperous new year.
